Enjoy hands-free driving with award-winning Super Cruise® driver assistance tech*
Enjoy a more comfortable driver assistance experience with available Super Cruise hands-free driving technology. Now available on more vehicles than ever before, Super Cruise handles the steering, acceleration and braking so you can let go of the wheel and enjoy the drive.
In order to operate Super Cruise, you must have an active and eligible OnStar Super Cruise Plan or trial. All new Super Cruise-equipped vehicles include three years of OnStar One* to support functionality, after which a Super Cruise plan must be purchased.
Super Cruise is not just cruise control; it's a Level 2 hands-free driver-assistance technology. It uses LiDAR maps, GPS, cameras, radar, and real-time monitoring to handle the steering, acceleration, and braking, helping maintain a selected following distance from the vehicle ahead.
As of 2026, Super Cruise works on 600,000+ miles of pre-mapped roads across the U.S. and Canada. That includes rural highways and bypasses, not just interstates.
On properly equipped vehicles, Super Cruise can recognize when you're pulling a trailer*, and it will automatically lengthen the gap to the next vehicle ahead in traffic. This gives your vehicle extra stopping distance.
Super Cruise only works on compatible roads with clear lane markings. No city streets, stop signs, or traffic lights. Explore over 600,000 miles of Super Cruise compatible roads.
Activate Super Cruise in just 3 steps.
If properly equipped, your car will automatically pass slower vehicles in your lane without you having to touch any controls.
If properly equipped, when you lightly tap your turn signal, Super Cruise technology will change lanes after ensuring it is safe to do so - no further input required.
Super Cruise can recognize when you're pulling a trailer, and it will automatically lengthen the gap to the next vehicle ahead in traffic. This gives your vehicle extra stopping distance.
In select 2026 and newer vehicles, Auto Engage can automatically transition between driver assistance modes to help you take advantage of the highest level of driver assistance technology available and can make your daily drives easier. Only take your hands off the wheel when the steering wheel light bar turns green.
On properly equipped vehicles, when you input a destination, Google Maps will find Super Cruise-compatible roads, display how many minutes of your drive can be driven hands-free and choose the optimal route for you.

Super Cruise service is included with eligible new GMC vehicles for an initial period. After the included service ends, an eligible OnStar service plan is required to continue using Super Cruise. Subscription pricing and plan availability can change, so check the current OnStar plans for the latest pricing. As of 2026, a Super Cruise subscription plan is $39.99 a month, or $399.00 if you pay yearly.
Hands-On Steering Assist helps keep the vehicle centered in its lane while Adaptive Cruise Control manages speed and following distance, but the driver must keep their hands on the steering wheel. Super Cruise builds on these driver-assistance functions to provide hands-free driving on compatible roads when conditions allow. The driver must still remain attentive and be ready to take control.
Yes. Super Cruise is available on compatible roads throughout California, including mapped highways in the Inland Empire. Coverage is based on GM's continuously updated Super Cruise road network, so availability can vary by specific road and vehicle. Drivers can use GMC's Super Cruise compatible-roads map to check whether a particular route is supported.
Super Cruise, Ford BlueCruise and Tesla's driver-assistance systems use different technologies and have different operating requirements. Super Cruise is designed for hands-free driving on compatible roads mapped by GM, while still requiring the driver to remain attentive and ready to take control. Ford BlueCruise similarly provides hands-free driving on designated compatible roads. Tesla's driver-assistance features have different capabilities and operating requirements depending on the vehicle, software and market. None of these systems should be treated as a substitute for an attentive driver.
Super Cruise hardware is not available as a simple aftermarket installation. It must be included as part of the vehicle's original equipment or an applicable factory configuration. If your GMC is already equipped with Super Cruise, you may be able to activate or continue the service through an eligible OnStar plan.
Yes, used and CPO GMC vehicles can have Super Cruise if the vehicle was originally equipped with the technology. Availability depends on the vehicle's model year, trim and equipment. If the vehicle has an active included Super Cruise service plan, that service may transfer to the second owner if the plan has not expired. After the included service ends, an eligible OnStar service plan is required to continue using Super Cruise.
