Here at Moss Bros.
Buick GMC we're constantly receiving questions from customers. And, we're not complaining; in fact, we love being of assistance and answering any
questions whether they're related to new
GMC models, GMC
parts or GMC
service.
And speaking of the latter, that is exactly what we're dedicating today's blog post to: the most frequently asked GMC service and maintenance questions.
Question 1: How often should the oil be changed?
Answer: If this question were being asked a few years ago, the answer would be 3,000-miles. But, today, that is not necessary, all thanks to the GMC Engine Oil Life System. This new arrangement provides automatic notifications when it's time for an oil change, and even makes the oil last longer.
Question2: How soon after said "Change Engine Oil Soon" light comes on, does the oil actually need to be changed.
Answer: Although, you may be tempted to push the boundaries, we don't recommend doing it. The Oil Life System is set up to alert you around the time your car is truly ready for a change. That said, it's OK to let it go 600-miles after the light, but no longer.
Question 3: How often do the tires need to be rotated?
Answer: Getting your tires rotated is a vital maintenance procedure that guarantees even wear for all four tires. And, the recommendation is universal across the board: tire-rotation appointments should be made every 7,500 miles. However, if you drive a model from the year 2011 or later and you become aware of premature wear, it's fine to do it sooner.
Question 4: Can oil changes and tire rotations be performed together?
Answer: Absolutely; and, not only that, but if you're keeping up with the suggested 7,500-mile rotation schedule, it's likely the two appointments will be needed at the same time anyway.
